"Bi Gu" - beyond water fasting? Inspirational

http://www.tiangong.de/en/uebungssystem/bigu/

"Bi Gu Fu Qi, it is said, so the complete term, simultaneously is a special competence as well as a state. Literally translated Bi Gu means: “Renunciation of grain,
except for Qi.”'

The beautiful thing here is, that letting go of food is not a sacrifice but comes from a feeling of fullness and gratitude. . . There is a transmission

I just came across this site, tonight, and thought to share it with you who might be inspired by it.

Bi Gu Fu Qi ("chi") reminds me of that beautiful phrase, "Man does not live by bread alone." ( you could say "grain", for bread, and for "grain", perhaps "food"...)

I've never thought that meant, one should add (or some force would add, like salt and pepper), something to food, like adding a little faith on Sunday. It always seemed to point to something deeper and more profound. For example, maybe it was pointing to the fact that eating itself, as one paradigm, granted a very pervasive one, creates a lot of need for various purifying practices like "fasting", "cleansing", "alkalizing", while really saying, "Man does not live by the food that is eaten."....
But by something completely other.
(and more or less survives the food, some systems breaking down earlier than others.)

food for thought :-)
