and big congrats on your sixteen days! You become a pioneer of worlds, almost-- :-) And nothing is better than taking up skin-brushing. I did it for years, somehow fell out of the habit, or maybe, fell into a habit, and out of the pure, present awareness of it, that you get when water fasting. I do it sporadically, and keep meaning to take it up regularly, again.
Feeding yourself (smells can be feeding!) while water fasting, and the feeling of missing eating only shows how we're really all about feeding ourselves. Even with thoughts, though we usually keep that level suppressed, often by putting a padding of food, and regular meals on top of it.
I felt at the height of good about 14-16 days into a water fast, and went to a play at a summer festival. Talk about the lure of all that wonderful summer food--We have to control the mind. I have said it before, and it's an image that's strong for me, *it's good to put a little fence around the fasting mind*.
I picture my fasting self as one of those very young saplings, that have a white collar around their trunk to protect them from the bites of passers-by, and also, that have a little low fence around that, just to keep anyone from lumbering into them, by mistake.
Sometimes we are our own strangers, falling onto ourselves.
I like to set up that image in my mind's eye, and project it as if it
extends outward. a little fence, not a stone wall, just a little scrawled enclosure.
About the enemas, I never did any. have never had one. Never did a colonic either--and although they are strongly urged, to follow on a liver flush, I just did a liver flush. I used half the Epsom Salt amount, which worked well for me, (only felt a bit dehydrated in the night).
And then I did a salt water flush with himalayan salt, today. For me, that takes the place of a colonic, and I trust it more, since it goes all the way 'down, and out'.
I might even do one tomorrow.
In a water fast, I've begun with a salt water flush. Or two.
( In the orange juice fast, to be "book-perfect", I think one takes magnesium citrate for three days, a dose a day, and then goes along, with only the orange juice.)
I've had a few bowel movements on a longer water fast. On a 29 day fast, I think three times, quite evenly spaced. The third time, on day 29, just thinking about ending the fast.
If you begin with a salt water flush, and it moves through you quite quickly, and your diet has been good going into the fast,
I think all is well. and leave nature alone. I tend to side with those who say enemas are not necessary.
However, only the person Water Fasting really knows their own body,..and there may be cases where an enema would be advised.
