Re:
Gospel Validation...
I had a pastor once who always said "It's okay to have possessions, just don't let the possessions have you!"
And yes, we must work and provide for our families to the best of our ability, by the grace of God. To not do so would be wrong. If major sickness, or some other tragedy strikes and someone is not able to work, that's a different story. But if they are able, then they need to work.
"So I guess the more you believe, the more you have. No? "Ask and it shall be given to you."
I would say no to that. There are many very poor believers out there that have amazing faith. And the fact that they have amazing faith despite being very poor shows the power of God in them. It's easy to appear to have much faith when you are rich and healthy. Not so much when those things are stripped away. Job's faith lasted through his kids being killed and all his possessions being destroyed, and illness striking his body. That's genuine strong faith!
But the health wealth prosperity gospel that is everywhere wants to tell us that the abundances of health and wealth means God is smiling down on you and favoring you because you have stronger faith than the sick and poor. Not so at all and the scriptures don't back that up.
