Re: Magnificat...

V: But what does it mean to you when Christ says he will lose none of those he is given?

M: It means none who come to God are lost.

V: Yes, but the passage says more than that. It says Christ will not lose one, meaning he is the good shepherd who will not lose one of his sheep, even if they wander off, he will go find them. So when he says he gave himself up for the Church, and he laid his life down for the sheep, that means not one in His Church (all the sheep make up Christ's church) will be lost.

John 10:11
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

M: That being said your chances of being saved in the Catholic Church are far greater because of the sacraments within it, and the grace it extends coming from the authority given it by God.

V: I'm so glad my salvation is not based on chance, but on the sure foundation of Jesus Christ my savior.

M: You think the Protestant faiths are perfect? There is so much scandal in the Protestant churches that I would need a 200000 square foot library to contain it all

V. Oh not at all, never. And I agree with the second part, except that I think you would need something even bigger than that. :)

M: You should know your faith and what your sacraments are if you are going to try and defend it. But here I did your homework for you. In this link you will see what Lutheran sacraments are, notice that marriage is not a sacrament.

V: I'm not Lutheran.

M: Again here is more homework done for you. 7 books were removed from the bible to make the Protestant bible. More would have been taken from the New Testament that disagreed with luthers view... But the Protestant backlashed at the thought and did not go ahead with it.

"One of the two "pillars" of the Protestant Reformation (sola scriptura or "the Bible alone") in part states that nothing can be added to or taken away from God's Word. History shows therefore that Protestants are guilty of violating their own doctrine."

V: I'm not buying this at all especially from a Catholic website, so I'd have to do further research to properly answer that one.

M: The Magesterium uses tradition of the church to interpret scripture or you wind up with apostasy and heresy that has plagued the church through out the ages such as Arianism. There is no such thing as multiple truths, there is only truth. Otherwise you start getting into relativism which is a quality of atheism. Coming into scripture and interpreting it for yourself can lead to many problems. Especially if you do not have the proper context to read it. The Catechism which is backed up by thousands of years of scrutinous theology, gives the proper context to read scripture.

V: Well the Magisterium totally failed and the end result is a false gospel taught to countless people that have no defense against it because they've believed the lie that they dare not test the scriptures against what the Magisterium says.

M: Many say it's the Holy Spirit guiding them, only to create rifts and problems because it's not the Holy Spirit but their own Pride. And then in typical fashion amoung the Protestant churches they divide... And continue to divide... Until there are 30000 of them like today.

V: Sure, totally agree. But people doing this awful thing does not stop the Holy Spirit. He is unstoppable and will continue to guide and teach the true believers regardless of the lies, etc. in His name.

M: As for the Popes, Bishops, and cardinals infighting over scripture... This is nothing new.

V: Nope this can't be, not if they are infallible which they are said to be and that is why everyone must listen to them. Otherwise they are not infallible.
