Re: Magnificat...

I wasn't putting words in your mouth. I was simply asking you if that is what you believed. You said no, so good! But based on the equation I gave from scripture that Christ gave himself up for the church, and he says he will lose none of those given to him, then if the church means the Catholic church, then something isn't adding up right in the equation unless everyone in the Catholic Church is saved, and you said that clearly they won't all be saved.

Yes, Peter as well as the other apostles and prophets, were the foundation for the church, (all those that would be true believers in Christ, the cornerstone of the church).

Ephesians 2:
19So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Luther and others didn't rebel against the one true church. They rebelled against the false church that was teaching the people lies and keeping them from the truth of scripture.
