Re: Identity in Christ
No, you can check all my past posts where I talk about how when we have been born again, we are new creations in Christ, we have a new heart that loves God and hates sin, we are saints and have the righteousness of Christ, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit and have a guaranteed eternal inheritance, we are freed from the power of sin, we are his workmanship created in Jesus Christ for good works, we are justified and sanctified in Him, and our life is hidden in Him, we have been redeemed, and have been changed, we have been brought from death to life, and on and on.
But saints still sin in their flesh, which is no longer their identity.
Romans 7:20
Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
Paul, as a new creation, hated his sin, that's why he says, "now if I do what I do not want", he did not want to sin, but he said if he did, it's no longer him who does it (he's a new creation that has the righteousness of Christ and that is his identity, not his flesh).
So no, I do not believe that those in Christ remain filthy wicked sinners. We are his bride, who he chose from the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless.
