cocoamidopropyl betaine triggers severe eczema

This message was posted on the eczema forum on facebook.

I thought it may be important for some people sufferening from eczema.

"A few weeks ago we underwent patch testing (allergy testing) with my children.
My 3 yr old's eczema has been completely unbearable, and the testing was a challenging process.

We learned she is allergic to cocoamidopropyl betaine, a very common ingredient in soap.

It was in all the soap in our home! No wonder her poor skin was so awful.

Her hands are still healing but eliminating the product has made a world of difference in her skin and itch.

After some research I've come to learn it's an extremely common irritant and allergen for people with eczema. Maybe it will help another person the way it's helped us."
