I was wondering about the differences of having chapped lips and exfoliative cheilitis. i can simply think of chapped lips as a temporary problem in witch you just apply a lip product and it heals and goes away. Exfoliative cheilitis however has no cure and is resistant to treatment. my lips has no barrier protecting the vermilion border of my lips so my body is constantly producing keratin to make that barrier. Now the problem is the layer of keratin tends die off and becomes crusty, flaky and then peels off or it becomes to hideous and you have to peel it yourself. so it goes on in a never ending cycle. So my question is how do you stop this cycle? how do you get your lips back to normal? without the layer of keratin dying off ever 1 or 2 weeks. No amount of lip balms or other lip product will stop this cycle. there is no treatment. so are we as EC sufferers stuck with this condition forever?
