Re: Best treatment for depresion?

Unfortunately, there is not really a universal truth which is why there are so many posts here. heh.

but in general, it seems that TONS OF RAW ORGANIC VEGGIES AND FRUITS helps tremendously in combination with eliminating all of the junk food in our world, including coffe, soda, excess alcohol, smoking, etc. And of course, regular exercise. My Depression was severe and embracing regular exercise and yogic breathing was a HUGE factor in my recovery.

I am a big fan of both alkaline (read "the acid-alkaline balance diet" book) high pH living and taking the supplement 5-HTP (or L-Tryptophan). BUT SHE SHOULD NOT DO THIS IF SHE IS STILL ON MEDICATION!! 5-HTP is the direct pre-cursor to serotonin in the brain, our happiness juice. The body uses this as its fuel to make the neurochemical.

This is essentially how the creation of all neurochemistry works. Our bodies create it with the food we eat. This is why diet is so crucial and also why so many of us are depressed becasue we are not eating enough raw(LIVING) foods, not moving enough, and ultimately giving our bodies far too little "happiness fuel" and a far too inefficient "happiness fuel processing system".

Hope this helps,

Brian

ps- If she decides to wean off of her meds someday, make sure she does it very slowly (!!) It can be pretty weird. I did it slowly over a period of 5 weeks..
