Regina, two messages below is a scinetific proof that Depression is connected to inflammation. All the junk in food, and in the nevironement can really make your body sick, and the brain being in your body, it is also logical that you'll be non-functional ot depressed. The so called "normal" ppl - you never know how normal they are, unless you read their diaries - also have struggles, maybe not exactly like yours. I hope you realize that you may have been missing good unadulterated fats (not trans- or rancid as in junk food) so you just instinctively got hold onto the first fat source that is not as bad - the pack of plain butter.
I hope you reflect during fasting time and find other things that can fill the emptiness inside, which make ppl eat compulsively.
