Ovex is Mebendazole which is an old school anti helminth and also has the capacity to kill certain protozoa. It is not usually the drug of choice for tapeworm, there are specific drugs to treat those such as Praziquentel and others, check ICU's posts for that.

Yes they could cause stomach pain as do most pathogens harboring the gut.
