Iodine supplementation

Hi everyone,

After doing some research about the Iodine supplementation, I've read that halide metals like fluoride, chloride and bromide could disrupt the Iodine receptors in the body and be stored.
But are these heavy metals? Normally they should be removed by water, no? If Iodine is "heavier" than them, could not it be a heavy metal too?

So I don't understand why people say that it takes months for the body to finally receive enough iodine, normally after just taking it one time you should be perfectly flushed no?

Thanks!
