Re: How to Chill Out the Brain?

Raising the GABA levels in your brain would help a lot.

Ensure that you are getting sufficient Vitamin B6 in the co-enzyme form pyridoxal-5-phosphate because this is needed to convert glutamic acid/glutamate which are excitatory into GABA which is calming. I started taking 2 capsules but had to cut back to one because they made me sleepy which is a big problem for me as I am parasympathetic dominant.

Also ensure that you get some zinc because that is needed for this process. Taking some Taurine might help because it increases the production/activity of the enzyme which converts the excitatory Glutamic/glutamate into GABA which might benefit you. You might have an excess of glutamic acid/glutamate which is causing over stimulation of your nervous system.

Theanine can raise GABA levels. Inositol can be calming which is what I have found but anything more than small quantities made me sleepy which I do not need.

L-Glycine reduces the stimulatory effects of noradrenaline within the brain and can have a relaxing/calming effect. I found this myself and had to stop using it.

Potassium is important to help stimulate the release of GABA in the brain.

I recommend that you begin with B6 P-5-P and work from there.
