Take 1000mg of GABA at night 3-4 hours before bed. Notice if you feel an effect from the GABA such as being tired, calm, sleepy, or more relaxed than usual over the next 4 hours. It may also cause a more restful nights sleep. Any affect at all would indicate a “leaky” blood/brain barrier. Sometimes, people will feel more energy. It can vary, but any affect is a positive sign. GABA should not cross the blood-brain barrier, so any effect demonstrates that the blood-brain barrier has lost its integrity. To overcome this take the following for 3 months, and then retest with 1000mg of GABA:
Liquid Bilberry Extract (GAIA Herbs) – 30 drops, twice a day, in hot water
Liquid Ginko Leaf Extract (GAIA Herbs) – 10 drops, twice a day, in hot water
Pycnogenol from Biochem – 100mg a day
You can also add the following, but it is not necessary:
Grape Seed Extract (http://www.worldimagenaturals.com/products/grapeseedextract/) 200mg, twice a day.
