You know, since you mentioned that water thing ... I gotta share something I discovered while my hubby was here on leave.
While in Afghanistan he drinks a LOT of water everyday - it's dry there, he doesn't have access to sodas as much, and it was hot this summer. So he drinks lots of bottled water. Well, after 4 months over there he had lost 20 pounds. I noticed how thin his face was looking... BUT, after 2 weeks here his face had puffed out again, yet he hadn't gained any weight back!
It dawned on me that it was water retention! He hadn't been drinking the same amount of H2O that he had while abroad and that was causing his cells to retain it and bloating him out. It was kind of an amazing discovery.
Anyway, just wanted to share the benefits of water intake. Probably most of the people walking around in America are dehydrated constantly. This really affects the body's ability to stay flushed out, whether cleansing or no. So listen to your mother (that's me at the moment) and drink lots of water!! :^)
