I had the same thing happen about 2-3 years ago after having all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed at the same time. A very long story short.. After the extraction of all 4 and waking up from anesthesia I could tell something wasn't right. I told my surgeon whom did the procedure rfht away after getting home. I too had the fistula from my top socket going into my sinus opened. It started to become very painful after several days and the surgeon finally got me in to see me again. The pain was so bad he prescribed my Oxycodone PRN every 4-6 hours and also packed it with gauze and clove oil (which only helped for about 30 minutes) Another day or two went by and pain continued and my face began to swell on the right side (where fistula was). I'm also a type 1 diabetic so the infection I ended up getting in my sinus cavity between the socket and my nasal cavity caused massive swelling and pain. It screwed my blood sugars up and I ended up spending 8 days in the hospital for IV Antibiotics and pain management. They were giving me 4mg of Dilaudid (Hydromorphone) every 4 hours to help ease the pain. Yet after being on IV Antibiotics and the strong pain meds for 8 days it was quite an expensive hospital stay and a haze to say the least due to all the narcotic pain meds. I'm glad it's over with now and that the hole is now closed up. No problems lately but knock on wood! Hope it all went well!
