I've gotten most of what I know off of the internet or good nutritional books I've read. I did a lot of research on a raw foods lifestyle, and decided that just wasn't for me. I've settled on the basic principles found in a book I'm currently reading called "What the Bible says about Healthy Living." It's a fantastic read! Also I enjoyed the 4 books from the guy at the link posted below.
I am quite interested in seeing children eat healthfully as I have a 5-yr. old who refuses carrots, apples, grapes, watermelon, strawberries - the kid is bizarre! He will eat applesauce and bananas, and I've come to the conclusion that it's a texture thing not a taste thing. A constant challenge for me is finding him something healthy to eat! Meanwhile, I also have a dear nephew who is about 24 years old and weighs in at a whopping 300#!! He is miserable, on antidepressants, and not expected to live past 40. Breaks my heart. He grew up vegetarian too (and still is, actually), but there's no limit to the chips, pies, and other fattening foods he eats. It has made me very aware that the habits you form as a young person you will take into your adult years - for better or for worse.
