Re: Brian, ok one more question

well, it is a bit expensive (and it is the best I have found) but you are a little off. :)

firstly, the math: there are 50 per bottle.
30 days x 4 = 120. so that is a little less than 2 1/2 bottles per month.

BUT (!!!) you may not need 4 per day. Do you weigh 200 pounds like me? They recommend 500 mg per each 50 pds of weight.

Also, you may decide that a smaller dose is effective for you. Even if you are more than 200 pounds, a smaller dose than 4 per day may work just fine.

I strongly recommend reading as much as possible about it and feeling out the range of doseage recommendations.

A good rule of thumb, though, is 2 per night (and remember, on an empty stomach one hour before bed) as a starter and go from there.

Some people also do not take it every day. Every other day may prove to be effective. Since it is expensive, the best road is to find the minimum doseage that works for you and stick with that.

One more thing I should inform you of, in hopes that it does not turn you off: It tends to make some a teensy bit "groggy" the next morning (but goes away pretty quickly). What I usually do is have a nice warm cup of green tea(or yerba mate) with breakfast which melts the grogginess away.

Anyway, you definitely want to make sure you get 8 hours of sleep. If you woke up after 6 or something, the grogginess would be worse.

Also, as I mentioned before, there are a great deal of nutritionists, doctors and such, who would recommend 5-HTP which is very similar.. This may also prove to be effective. I'm not sure how much cheaper it is though..

I don't personally recommend it because it has not been nearly as effective for me. But as far as the breakdown and metabolism of protein into happiness juice for your brain, 5HTP is part of the chain. I think it is one step earlier than l-tryptophan actually.. (one step further away from serotonin)

But L-Tryptophan is literally ONE STEP before serotonin. It is the direct 'fuel' that your body/brain uses to make serotonin.

And again, if you have an atrophied heart, the entire metabolism process does not work as well. I know it is hard, but I strongly recommend walking briskly/jogging 15 minutes per day (at least).

Anyway, please let us know how it goes! It may take a while for you to feel the effects, but they will come. The handful of depressed friends who I have advised (who have actually followed the advice correctly and completely) have had positive effects.

I was personally on Zoloft for a year during one stretch, and I must admit that it worked.. but the side effects were hOrrIbLe, AND ALL OF THE POSITIVE EFFECTS WERE *EXACTLY* THE SAME AS AMINO THERAPY!!!!

:)

Wishing you the best,

Brian
