When I started attacking my candida problem and killed it off using various techniques (apple cider vinegar was one of them), I noticed that I was not nearly as hungry as I used to be, and consumed less food. This is because the body is absorbing much more nutrients instead of the candida stealing and feeding off of them. I can't comment on the baking soda or borax, since I never tried those out, but it sure sounds like you're on the right track.
Just make sure to use a good probiotic when using apple cider vinegar, or in my case, food grade H202 and ACV.
