I found this on bicarbonates:
"It mainly inhibits fungus mycelium development. Its mode of action is linked with
osmotic pressure, pH and specific bicarbonate/carbonate ion effects."

This type of activity is when the bicarbonates are in "direct" contact with fungus. Taking it orally might not achieve the same results.

In the agriculture industry potassium bicarbonate is used as a fungicide. One website stated that potassium bicarbonate was 25-35% more effective than baking soda as a fungicide.
