Ive been complaining the past couple months that my hair has been shedding considerably. Well the past 3 days the shedding has virtually stopped.
Initially I thought it could be hyperthyroid due to my hot neck, or lack of selenium, i experimented up and down with both, with zero success.
I then started to apply some diluted Iodine for my dandruff as Grizz has recommended. I did this about 3 months ago and it worked - conincendatally I think that's when the shedding really cut back too (didnt draw the parallel at the time).
Anyhow, I just started again last week and I think this was the solution and I'll tell you why....
A few years back I had a toenail infection that wouldnt go away. I ended up taking Lamisil/terbinafine internally. Sure enough the toenail infection went away over 4 months. I felt pretty bad while taking it, but another thing i noticed is my hair stopped shedding and thickened up considerably.
What I suspect is my scalp has some kind of infection that's causing the shedding. Surely enough when I stopped the Lamasil, the shedding resumed.
Fast forward to now, I suspect by applying the diluted Iodine topically, I am in effect killing any fungus that may be causing some hair loss.
What do you people think? Plausible reason?
Ill keep observing and update you guys as time goes by.
btw - my hair is still thicker than it used to be. I am 37, male, and it's at the longest it's been in a while (at least a year), and the last time it was this long it was flimsy and looked thin, now it has much more body (thickness) and looks much fuller.
