good for you and thanks so much for the great information! I was on it for about a year and decided to wean myself off of it as well, especially after realizing that the positives were EXACTLY the same as applying the amine theory in full force. 5htp is great. I prefer L-tryptophan though, for serotonin pre-curser uploading, as it has proved to be more effective, and is actually closer in the metabolism chain to serotonin. it's one step away actually, where as 5htp is further down in the chain. (merely one more step though I think. great stuff of course)

I take 2000 mg of l-tryptophan every night an hour before bed (and it actually makes you tired which is helpful) applying the suggestion of 50 mg per every 50 pounds of body weight. And I also take l-tyrosine for dopamine pre-curser uploading, 2000 mg as well in-between meals when there is no food in the tummy (at least 3 hours after eating otherwise it is not absorbed) and of course, B complex the coenzyme which is essential for metabolism. without it, the aminos are a waste of money

one of the best books every written on the amine theory that I have found is called 'the way up from down' by dr. p slaegle and is available online for free now: www.thewayup.com. oh, and forgot to mention EXERCISE especially CARDIO as the heart can get atrophyed to apoint where it simply isn't pumping enough blood throughout the body to properly nourish, aid in the metabolization of proteins into nuerochem, etc..etc..etc..etc..
and, not to be forgotten: A GREAT DIET!!!!

I hated the side effects and the numbing of emotions. it's beautiful to be moved to tears again as that crap wears off and leaves your system. I also found that my dreams were drastically altered while on zoloft. I felt as if I was dreaming from another person's consciousness.. really weird. equally as horrible as the sexual side effects imho.

10 mg at a time is a great idea. lots of people wean off far too rapidly. I personally did the following which worked well, but was on it for far shorter than you:

100-75-100-75-100-75-100 1st week
75-50-75-50-75-59-75 2nd week
50-25-50-25-50-25-50 3rd week
25-50-25-50-25-50-25 4th week
12.5-25-12.5-25-12.5-25-12.5-25 5th week

congrats on your departure from this garbage medication and mentality.

the actual truth is not profound and sadly hidden deep from the masses: we are all built differently, metabolise proteins differently, and *grow and develop receptors differently due to genetics and often childhood trauma* and function at different baselines. in the same way that one person could need 2500 mg of vitamin C to have the exact same effect as another at 500 mg, people need differnt amounts of protein, supplements, even exercise.

exercise (cardio!) has been the path of truth for me. without it as a regular part of my life, I get depressed.

and another thing about depression: it's normal and perfectly natural. life is full of ups and downs and if more people weren't brainwashed to believe that elation 24 hours a day is anything but delusional, we would all be better off. :)
