nespielleipsen: Specimens May Be Dipylidium Caninum (Dog/Cat Tapeworm)

Nespielleipsen -

The white oval/barrel-shaped pieces in the pic are possibly the segments of Dipylidium Caninum (Dog/Cat Tapeworm), AKA flea tapeworm:

This species of tapeworm typically resides in the GI tract & doesn't migrate or encyst in other parts of the body.

Treatment includes the drugs Niclosamide (Telmitin, Niclocide, or Yomesan), Praziquantel, & Albendazole:

Niclosamide, taken for 1 week, usually resolves an infection of this species in the GI tract.  It's not available in US, but can be ordered from drugprescription4u dot com.

Follow-up with Albendazole & Praziquantel is sometimes needed for large colonies or co-infection with other parasites.

For the follow-up, recommend Valbazen suspension vs Albendazole tablets.  Its formulation process provides better uptake/bioavailability.  Available on EBay.  Praziquantel, 600mg tablets, are also available on E-Bay.

Dr Simon Yu, a renowned parasitologist in St Louis, prescribes an alternate tapeworm treatment for his patients:  One Praziquantel, 600mg tablet, & one Ivermectin, 12mg tablet, 3 times daily, 6 hrs apart, for 7-21 days.  This method is also effective for fluke infections.

Ivermectin horse paste is available on E-Bay.  Note:  Zimectrin Gold horse paste contains both drugs, but the % of Praziquantel (1mg/kg) is too low to to be effective.  Info on ordering & calculating dosage is covered in this post:

Good luck in your battle!  Hope this info is helpful for you.
