I believe that diagnosis of worms is based on identification of the ova (egg) and not the adult so if the ova is not shedding in the stool then it will never show up. Also if you have a species that does not show up in the identification manuals then you will never get a positive. I think there are many species that infect humans but have not showed up as being pathogenic. Tweet
