Re: Could steep drop in Iodine intake cause problems?

This elemental diet is specifically for SIBO so doesn't have any artificial sweeteners which would feed bacteria. The worst thing in it is the corn based glucose. I am coming off it now (thankfully) and starting to supplement with food.

I'm already seeing some symptoms return that Iodine cleared (ie, very dry skin). Now with a little food, I'm tolerating the 50mg Iodoral so I guess at worst I do a little painting on the skin and stick with 50mg for a month or two before I can add SSKI back in once my gut starts acting better. I know a lot of people who stay at that dose for awhile anyhow, so I guess it's not super low. Even with my skin dry, I haven't seen other symptoms like extreme brain fog come back. I am weak and tired, but I'm sure that's due to starvation and should go away once I can get back > 1200 calories.
