Re: katsmama21789: Roundworm Treatments for Adults-Children-Pets
Good morning ICU,
I have been following your posts lately and I find them extremely helpful.
To give you a bit of my background story, I adopted two cats back in January 2012. To my horror, both of them began overflowing with roundworm...I literally found dried up worms all over my apartment. At the time, it didn't dawn on me that my daughter (who is now 6 yrs old) & I could become infected as well, but I'm pretty sure that's the cause of the horrendous gastro issues that I've been dealing with for the past year and a half. I tested positive for blastocystis hominis and candida in fall 2013(despite going through a treatment of Flagyl in July 2013), at this point I'm starting to get the candida under control and hoping that the course of Iodoquinol that my doctor prescribed knocked out the blasto as well. But I'm still not well. I keep going back to the memory of finding worms all over my home and I believe I'm still battling a roundworm infection. Despite taking a number of herbal remedies, the infection persists and I feel them all over my body...I have twitching sensations from head to toe, feel itching sensations in awkward places, at times I've felt my ear move, itching in my nose, eye twitching...I've even seen one move across my eyeball after a garlic enema. I'm ready for the next step in order to get past this nightmare!
I've located your treatment protocols for albendazole, but was wondering what you suggest in regard to dosing for children? My daughter is about 50
lbs. Back when we adopted the cats in Jan. 2012, she was still sucking her thumb. She has complained of tummy aches on & off (at first I couldn't tell whether it was sympathy pains due to seeing what I'm going through), when I wake her up in the morning I often notice that she grinds her teeth so strongly that it makes me cringe...I would assume that she is also infected. I've tried dosing both myself and her with pyrantel pamoate, to no avail. I have some mebendazole at home which I ordered online (and I've gone through a course of mebendazole myself which was prescribed by one of my former gastro docs, also to no avail), but it sounds like albendazole has a higher success rate due to the fact that it can kill the infection throughout the body. I would hate to go through a course of albendazole myself, give her mebendazole and then lo and behold her treatment fails. Any advice you can give would be so greatly appreciated!
As a side note, I also plan to follow your recommendations for niclosamide (before the albendazole) and combining the albendazole treatment with praziquantel. I see a nutritionist/former RN who practices muscle response testing and she detected a
Tapeworm as well as flukes last summer. She said that the
Tapeworm is gone at this point, but I'm still seeing seed-like things in my stool...especially since I started a course of Humaworm (which I'm still in the midst of...less than a week in at this point). And I've passed a horrific number of liver flukes after a liver flush, so I know for a fact that I'm dealing with those as well. My nutritionist also detected flukes in my daughter, so I planned to combine her albendazole treatment with praziquantel as well. I'm tempted to give her the niclosamide beforehand as well, just to err on the side of caution...I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. I was able to locate your niclo dosing recommendations for children.
I was able to find alben for a reasonable price through evroshipping (per your recommendation) and found some prazi through ebay (only $30 for 50g), but haven't been able to find a reasonable price for the niclosamide as of yet...if you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them!
Thank you so much for your time! Your posts have given me hope as of late. I'm a single mom and I know that part of my health issues are stress-related, but despite my attempts at getting my stress levels under control (meditating, exploring other spiritual practices)...the fact is, I'm still not well. I'm ready to get my life back :).
