Thats brilliant you'll be joining. Yes start today if you can, see what you have in the fridge. (The ninja will make it easier, I've got a similar machine) My first smoothie was organic apple juice as a base, 2 kale leaves (no stalks), green apple, piece of ginger, lemon, Celery and parsley. There are loads of recipes on the internet. Just play around and find what suits your tastebuds. (i have made some horrid concoctions in the past).
