Re: The error of Lordship salvation
I know that is he question that you've been wanting to discuss. Because it seems to change among us according to what we post., my only comment is to remember that unlike some I do not come from a position of Calvinism or Armenianism.
I believe we are given this confidence in our salvation so we can really be free to live in Christ. For example take 2 children. One lives in a home where she knows her father will love her no matter what mistakes she makes, she is confident as she goes out into the world to learn and grow without fear that when she goes home to face her father whether she has had a few bumps and bruises in her learning, his arms will be open and his love will remain. She may be chastised but never ostracized.
Then take another girl. Her dad loves her too. But, he is a stern dad and lets her know in certainty that to remain under his roof she had better obey his rules. She goes out into the world insecure and frightened. She finds friends eventually though who do accept her unconditionally, even the stuff she has done that she has tried to hide from her dad.
Which girl will have the best relationship with her dad, and is most likely to grow into a mature daddy loving, daddy respecting person for the rest of her life? Its only in freedom that we are really free to fully love, I think.
