Re: Miraculous Healing and some insights into how it works.
Hunter, I believe we all have the Holy Spirit available to us to be our helper. We should look to Him first. He is our first and most important teacher as well. Any teaching of any man needs to be examined. We need to make sure that it is what the Bible teaches for there are many false teachers in the world of Christendom. The Holy Spirit will even help us examine teachings of men.
I believe that the message in 1 Corinthians is telling us to seek the gifts of the Spirit so that we can use them to help others. It looks to me like in the Bible Christians were showing off their gifts and becoming puffed up and very proud because they had them. That is why Paul had to correct them. Paul made it clear to them that love is more important. He made it clear that the gifts must be used with love to help others and not to puff themselves up.
I think Ed has made it clear that he has sought and received love. I think he is trying to tell us that we should seek the gifts so that we can help others in love too. I think he is saying, "If I can do it, you can do it too because God is no respecter of persons." I think Ed is trying to encourage us in these things. Of course, Ed has no way of knowing if the readers are already operating in these gifts. So I feel that the message is there for people who need it. I think some already are doing the same as he is, healing the sick by the power of the Holy Spirit. Others may need the encouragement. No man can heal anybody supernaturally on their own.
