Re: Heaven and Hell

You are right Refreshed, what's happening here is happening all around us. Christians debate. They always have and always will until we are all brought to perfect understanding at the end of this age. I can handle that fact, can you? If we are on sure ground, in Christ, we should be able to. And even if we stop debating here, because of lack of time, or lack of desire, or whatever, challenges to our beliefs are going to come one way or another. But it's good to be challenged. It causes us to look to Christ more when we are unsure, when we can't answer all the questions. It causes us to dig deeper into scripture. Or at least it should cause all these things.

So I'm not mad at either of you for challenging what I believe, at any time, not just during the recent debate. And even though I was mad for a moment the other day when statements like I was working for the devil were made, etc., I'm not mad anymore about that. Maybe you both really think I am working for the devil. You have a right to believe that. I don't even want to say you should stop saying that. If you want to say it, and feel the need to say it, then say it. Write a post totally blasting me out if you want, get it all out. :) I think I can take it.
I'm not going to worry about what anyone says about me on here. And granted it is easier here to take because no one knows who I am. I'm just a weird name on here. But this is good practice ground to grow tougher for our more personal lives.

I've learned from you both a lot over the years. I've learned a lot more of the thoughts from the other sides of the issues, and I'm thankful for that. You may not have changed my mind, but you've enlightened me. And hopefully I have enlightened you. For example now you know more about the annihilation view of hell than you would have had it not been for me. :) Knowledge is good, right?

God is in control, so we need to see the good in these things.

And if the fear is that others are looking in on these debates, and saying, "No way would I ever want to be a christian, or Christians are stupid", or whatever else they might be saying, which seems to be the fear that has been spoken at times a lot here because of the debates, then all I have to say is this: if it's all been left to us, who is saved, and who isn't, if because we can't be the perfect example and perfectly Christ-like, others will be lost, if that's what it's all about, we are in trouble! But I'm confident that's not what it's about. People will come to Christ because they see a need in themselves for him, and no other reason! If they look to the faults of christians, and say I'm better than they are, so I'll never need their God, then they've missed the point entirely.

Our job as Christians is to keep pointing to Christ, keep preaching the gospel, keep pointing to his perfect righteousness, reminding everyone that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! And yes, we need to pray we can be better examples, but if someone is looking for us to screw up, it won't take long, and if that's what they are basing their decision to come to Christ or not on, then they will never come to Christ. The burden is not on us to be perfect, if it is, we've completely failed already. The burden on us is to keep pointing to Christ, period! with our failures and all.

Okay, I guess I'm done with that rant. Any thoughts anyone? :)
