Jesus used parables to teach truths, but he did not mean for every detail of them to be taken literally. This is a well known fact. Would a drop of water on Lazarus's tongue do any good whatsoever if he was burning in hell?
Is heaven Abraham's bosom? If we took the Lazarus and the rich man parable literally and took it as a parable describing the final state of the righteous, we would have to think so. And there are all kinds of details in this parable like that, that if we took it all literally, would make no sense whatsoever.
Can those in hell talk to those in heaven? The rich man was.
Do trees talk? If we take the parable of the talking trees literally, they do!
This parable was used just like all the parables, to teach great lessons, but all the details are not to be taken literally.
