I think the most important thing is to be mentally prepared. Once I decided to do the fast, I just did it. This is my first fast too, and I am just finishing Day 22. Sure I thought alot about food but I knew that I would never eat anything while I was on the MC. I'm not sure where I got the courage to do it. I remember the saying "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear" and I just believe that it was time for me to do it. The first 3 or 4 days are kind of rough depending on your diet. I had already given up drinking pepsi (my drug of choice) in April so I went through the headaches for that then. I did get a few headaches the first day but after I drank the lemonade I was fine. I would try to use the recommended amount of maple syrup for the first few days. I felt that it kept my energy level up and I could get through the day. I started the Master-Cleanse for the sole purpose of doing an internal cleanse although I did hope to lose some weight. I kept my focus on the cleansing and I did lose some weight in the process. I must have explained what I was doing to a hundred people and most of them tried to talk me into eating. Plus, I work in a restaurant which isn't the best place to be when you cannot eat. But I am still going. Another thing that I thought about was the fact that I have eaten 365 days a year for every year of my life...I can give my body at least a 10 day rest. You can do it too!
