Austin is a tough town to make it in. Everybody wants to live there but the huge student population along with all the new-comers make for an over abundance of cheap labor that is easily taken advantage of. Back in the 70's I was framing houses there for 50 cents a square foot and moved to Houston where I got 90 cents for the same work. Sure I would rather have lived in Austin but the competition to make a living was just too much.
