Re: Taking albendazole itself if you have tapeworms and flukes?
I'm not convinced that taking albendazole for 1-2 days will accomplish much. I was under the impression it took longer to completely block the enzymes of the parasites. It works differently than the biltricide. The albendazole can be difficult to tolerate. I think you will have to take it for the suggested duration for it to be of most benefit.
Another option would be daxon. I don't feel sluggish taking the drug like I do with albendazole. It doesn't have the side effects of albendazole. I would suggest taking the expensive kind and not generic. It seemed to work better for me is the reason. It is 20 dollars a box though and you would need 5 boxes for a 14 day course. I have heard that some extend the 14 day to one month and start with mebendazole and extend that out for 7 days instead of three and then continue with the daxon and then take your break. I believe that was for ameobas though. If you are treating flukes all of my kills if I were lucky enough to get some during the course of the daxon have been around the 7-10 day mark. From that experience I don't know if it makes sense to extend the medicine out that long. It treats
Tapeworms too and I have consistently found large green segments while taking it the first three days of usage. That continues for possibly a week for me.
Also about the biltricide I think it is wise to add something that strengthens your immune system to help the medicine be more effective. Colostrum sp??, organic sauerkraut or a really good probiotic to just aid your immune system along.
I have a pharmacist in tj that I trust. I can give you his number and you can order the daxon from him. Dr. Cheiu also gave me a site where a person can order daxon for really cheap.
