A question about Newport's IMAM recipe

Sorry, if this is a dumb question, but I cannot find the answer anywhere ;)

It says to use the purest, carbonated water and those with distillers or RO systems can carbonate their own.

Ok, I have a Megahome distiller and also RO whole house (Pure Earth KDF) system, but I have no idea how to carbonate the water :(
I've google searched with no luck, either.

I do have a Nikken PiMag unit that I thought of trying with the water, but I think it only holds the charge for a couple hours and it doesn't carbonate.

Any help would be appreciated as I've thought of getting the Soda Stream, but hate to spend the dollars if I can do my own..
