I don't know if the mri would show anything either. I have had many scans in mexico. I get to keep the main cd programs this is helpful if you ever want another opinion or such. When looking thru the different scans with different contrasts and such it's extremely difficult to make out much of anything. I knew there was a worm in my back that I feel is quite large. I did see something that could be construed as that. A highly contrasted area near the skin but it would be easy for a doctor to dismiss it as well. Also, I don't think the doctor takes the time to go thru and examine meticulously each angle of slides with different contrasts to see anything. Some of my results were given in 10 minutes. So, I am reluctant to say the scan will solve all your problems. In the past I had a cyst in my liver and left hip degeneration that was picked up on a ct scan. It still wasn't diagnosed as parasitic. Three days later I killed the flukes and brought them to the doctor in a bag. This still was conclusive evidence enough for them. My last ct scan showed I had pathogenic activity around my pelvis and calcification in my left hip. Still not enough to really diagnose anything. It's more of simply handing me off to a parasitic doctor. Which isn't all bad. Everyone needs help sometimes. I don't know about going ot the emergency room. Even when I went to the hospital for routine bloodwork I was charged so much money. 500 dollars for a cmp ($50 test). If I paid cash at labcorp it would have been $292, instead it was $2200 at the hospital. I don't know how much of that I will pay but still, way out of hand.
