I'd like to correct an inaccuracy in the article above. The line that reads "Halofuginone is one of the 50 'fundamental herbs' of traditional Chinese medicine," should really read, "Chang shan is one of the 50 'fundamental herbs' of traditional Chinese medicine."

One of the active compounds in chang shan is "febrifugine." Halofuginone is a synthetic derivative of febrifugine. It is not an herb, fundamental or otherwise.
