Re: going abroad....what are the medication

Well, then I would try to get as much as you can to last a couple of months. You could focus on meds that you can't get easily thru veterinarian sources. Nitazoxanide. I have tried both the generic and the more expensive form of Daxon and I like Daxon better. I think it you were treating a Tapeworm or something the generic form would be o.k. I am trying to treat a very difficult fluke infection and I feel the daxon works better for some reason. So, nitazoxanida, mebendazole ($3/6 tablets x 100mg, might as well get a lot of that its so cheap). I have an Ascaris infection and I had a strong reaction to decaris. That being said I don't know if it killed the ascaris, but it killed "ALOT" of something. It's recommended that you only need to take it for 2-3 days. I saw the most benefit from it the first 12-24 hours. It's possible that it was flukes. The small banana shaped white masses with veinious tissue attached. Regardless it's designed to treat ascaris. Flagyl is available too.

You just need to make sure you get the things that aren't easily accessible thru other sources, be it vet sources or online pharmacies. The nitazoxanida is supposed to treat 14 different parasites. it's a good multipurpose antihelminth.

So, for the ascaris. Mebendazole, quinfamida, decaris, for sure. Pyrantel if you can find it and depending if you want you can purchase ivermectin. I am not positive but I think pyrantel and ivermectin stun or shock the parasite. So from there a person needs to be able to pass the worm out. So, if it creates a mechanical blockage somewhere then the pyrantel or ivermectin isn't going to do anything more. That's just from what I read. Thiabendazole has been shown to treat Ascaris too. So might as well get some of that.

You can get albendazole if you feel you may need it in the future also praziquantel. It really depends on your budget. But, the decaris, mebendazole and quinfamida and thiabendazole, and possibly pyrantel and ivermectin. Then a good multipurpose drug is the nitazoxanida if you really wanted it. You have lots of choices there but there is a core group there I would try to get for sure.
