Re: Any idea where the word "Jesus" comes from?

Different strokes for different folks, cultures, eras. In the modern west it is pronounced with a hard J sound (like Geez us) but Hispanics pronounce it with an H sound (like Hay soos). The Ya variant seems to have originated in ancient Middle East. Similar effect with Jehovah versus Yahweh, supposedly different pronounctiations of the same root word. Some say Joe, others say Hosay, some say William, some say Geejermo while others say Villy, Peter, Pedro, Paitir, Steven / Esteban / Stephano, Mica, Michael or Me kay lay. Many say Kris Miss, others Christ Mass.
