I just spoke to my neighbor and asked her about the native ginseng. She is in her 70's and has lived around here most of her life. She said there is still some wild growing, but is hard to find. I only have three acres of land, but that includes the northwest hill where ginseng used to be plentiful. I may never see a wild plant, but would love to know that it has come back and established itself. I'm not so much interested in buying it locally, I'd just like to feel a little more in touch with my heritage as a great-great granddaughter of mountain herbalists. I'm starting pretty late in life, but at least its a start. How I wish I had gathered some male Black Walnut buds earlier, the tree at the side of the house was loaded with them. I didn't see much on the other trees, and was not sure that was what I needed until I saw your pictures.
