Re: how does mold feed candida?
I would like to address the poster who stated that issues with candida and comprimised immunity systems are not the only problem with immunity but compromised gut systems.
I would like to add that the "gut" is the largest immune support system the body has and yeast destroys the flora, the correct balance of bacteria, to support good immune health.
Thus the push for probiotics and making sure the gut system is healthy. I had systemic yeast and it was in my bowel, I had to take antifungals (nystatin which has been around for years) which took care of the systemic yeast.
Realize that the body naturally has yeast in its system and a yeast infection is abnormal overgrowth.
I would see a specialist in immunology and allergies that deals with yeast infections.
I also had to be on a yeast free diet which meant basically nothing white (bread, sugar), pickled or fermented foods (to include wines, ale, pickles, luncheon meat with nitrate)
I took acidolophues. Remember to get tested for systemic yeast which they do now as it can get in your gut and any other place. Here is the link that answers the subject question-http://www.thecandidadiet.com/foodstoavoid.htm
Basically, a comprimised immune system will grow molds faster and yeast comprimises the immune system.
The book "The Yeast Connect" by Dr. Robert Cook is an excellent source and he was a forerunner in yeast research.
Remember, "If you are craving something, it is your yeast craving it so don't feed the yeast" That is with yeast patients.
Right now fighting a yeast infection in my ear. I have thrush often. Good Luck
