Did the kefir recolonize permanently? Or do you still have to use it for maintenance?
Before I took the antibiotic, I never concerned myself with taking probiotics or eating yogurt or kefir; my lifelong gut flora thrived on its own. I would really like to get back to that state -- to be able to leave my gut ecosystem to its own devices and not have to worry about it. So I want something that will PERMANENTLY recolonize, so I don't have to take probiotics for the rest of my life.
It's not really clear to me why commercial probiotics do not permanently colonize. I believe that they might not, but I don't understand why.
