Re: Autism, could it be preventable?
Thank you for the post. You make excellent points.
These statistics support your thought.
Autism Research Institute treatment parent ratings 2009
http://www.autism.com/index.php/treatment_ratings_asd
"Detox. (chelation)" 74% report "got better", 3% report "got worse", 23% report "no effect"
The 74% rating is the best of all of the many dozens of listed interventions.
Mainstream medicine is in denial because they are part of the problem! They inject kids and pregnant moms with vaccines containing mercury as a preservative. They put "silver"
Amalgam fillings in our teeth which contain 50% mercury! These contribute to the overall body burden of mercury. Mercury then damages the body's detox system and levels of other toxins rise.
This old group at yahoo has been helping parents with detox of their autistic kids for over ten years.

Folic acid feeds into the folate cycle which feeds the methylation cycle which feeds transsulfuration. These are very important for production of the body's natural detox chemicals. So there is a plausible link between folic acid and detox. The use of methylfolate might actually be even more effective for some people since it directly feeds into the methylation cycle. There is a theory that some people don't convert folic acid into methyl folate as robustly as others.
The issue of detox of a woman who might become pregnant is very tricky. There have been many discussions of this topic in the yahoo chelation groups. Please become informed before messing with detox supplements or
Amalgam removal! This post is one of the more memorable ones on the topic.
