Re: What about metabolism slowing down?
I understand it takes 36 hours for the metabolism to slow down. Some people do something called EOD (Every Other Day) where they eat every other day, essentially 36 hour fasting, that is where you eat one day, but don't eat the next. That keeps the metabolism up, but you would have a large (cumulative) number of fasting days, like 14 a month. The eating days keep the body expecting food (keeps the metabolism up).
You can do 24 hour fasting by eating dinner one night, then no food until dinner the next night. That's 24 hours! Skipping 2 meals. Since 24 hours is less than 36, the metabolism wouldn't be slowed. That is essentially the eat-in-the-evenings-only lifestyle. Giving the body a lot of time to do its thing, and then refueling.
Of course slowing the metabolism to an extent is a good thing. A raging metabolism isn't a good thing, but a snail-pace metabolism isn't the greatest, either. It should be juuuuuust right! lol
