I've been on synthroid for 8 years. Endo likes the TSH to be under 2. Last spring, the TSH went up over 3 and it was the first time that my anxiety, jumpiness and craziness disappeared. I always felt like I was jumping out of my skin and every little thing stressed me out. I had no idea it was linked to my thyroid. I thought maybe the meds, but not the TSH itself. Now after being on Iodoral, my TSH is over 6. The free T4 is within range. She doesn't test the free T3. After doing a lot of reading, I understand that the TSH is a worthless test and that Iodine can raise it temporarily. My question is what is going on in my body that I feel so relaxed at these TSH levels? She is really having a problem with not increasing my meds, but I keep telling her it's the Iodine and hope that it is temporary.
