Re: Cayenne/Chillis/Capsicum/Peppers

The problem is that people confuse the specific and the broad.

Cayenne is a specific type of pepper, but people might apply it to any hot pepper.

Chili is a certain type of pepper, but again people apply it to all hot peppers.

Capsicum is the genus of all peppers, but people started calling bell peppers that.

SOoooooo.... you don't know if people are being specific, broad, confused, misinformed?!?

Everybody in the world needs to take a crash course in peppers and their terminology! Also in Italian foods. The pastas and sauces, their technical terms and applications.
It drives me bonkers when people use the wrong terms!
