Yeah, I see what you are saying.

This is quoted right from their site...

"The variable control allows you to set the strength desired from 5 to 15+ PPM. The generator automatically shuts off when the setting is reached. Control of the generator is NOT done with a timer. A conductivity sensor and associated circuitry determines when the preset PPM is reached."


Seems to me that the dial would correspond to the ppm.

It has everything to do with it. When the conductivity reaches a certain level it automatically turns off. By adjusting the variable control (potentiometer) you are changing the conductivity set point.
