I would try it on an individual basis. I hear nightshade autoimmune horror stories, but all of the symptoms listed for that I lived with while eating high protein...fruitarian...rice...I am on the side of grains being responsible for poor muscle tone through poor protein absorption and it required me to go all in on nightshades. I pile in the nightshades unapologetically. If someone has a sensitivity..there are alternative roots like Yucca and Sweet potatoes. For me sweet potatoes or yams cost 3x more and Yucca is not available in my city. So i rely on cooking plantains and potatoes, and squash.
