Re: dog bite
Although the dog has all the shots, you should still take precautions especially since your daughter is so young. If you are not going to have the bite mark checked out, I would also throw in one of these if you have some: echinacea root, plantain, skullcap.
- echinacea helps with infection and is a blood purifier
- plantain is good for poisonous bites
- skullcap is known as a nervine, but in Dr C's book, it was first introduced for canine rabies
As for how much to use...assuming there are no fresh echinacea root to apply to the wound...when my son was 4 years old and had a tooth infection, the dentist gave him antibiotics. After using it for 11 days without any results, I gave him 1/2 tsp echinacea root tincture twice a day. After several days, the infection got smaller, then he developed a fever. I increased it to 3 times a day and when the fever went away, so did the infection.
Plantain can be applied fresh or as an ointment on the wound. Skullcap is supposed to be mild enough to give to children.
And...since it is somewhat related...
Not a dog bite, but my baby nephew recently bit my son--twice on the same spot. The 2nd time left deep marks on his arm and it was starting to swell and bruise. I used the herb spray III generously on that spot right away and the swelling went down along with the bruising. The remaining bruise mark took a couple of days to completely disappear, but the pain went away after a few minutes.
Good luck with your daughter.
