Re: Need some advice
It is always best to avoid pharmaceutical drugs whenever possible and in this case, it's more than possible. Kefir is good, but you should be taking probiotics in supplement form. There are a lot out there and, from what I understand, not everyone responds favorably to the same probiotics. But there are many broad spectrum probiotics that would be good to try. Primal Defense by Garden of Life is a good one.
My ND has me on Ortho Moleclular supplements. Ortho Biotics (a probiotic), Intestinol and Candicid Forte.
There are a host of things you can do to help rid your candida in addition to probiotics and diet. Apple cider vinegar and/or lemon help to alkalize your system, which yeast cannot tolerate.
Bentonite clay helps absorb the candida and remove it from your system. A good intake of fiber (psyllium seems to be recommended a lot) helps ensure you are eliminating well. You should aim for two good bowel movements a day.
You need to be patient and stick with the anti-candida diet. The longer you've had it, the longer it takes to kick it. I've read that people reported it taking one month for every year they had it. You'll probably always have to be careful what you eat, but you shouldn't have to completely avoid carbs and
Sugar forever.
